Power FAQ's

How old do you have to be in order to participate?

Male and female athletes of all ages, sports and athletic levels can participate in AMP's Power sessions. Our youngest athletes are generally junior high age (12 and above). Athletes are grouped by age group and/or skill level whenever possible.

What kind of athletes benefit from POWER?

Athletes from all sports should complete a Power session. This includes "traditional" sports such as football, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, basketball and baseball, as well as gymnastics, dancing, swimming, golf, skiing, track and field, rodeo, cheerleading, long distance running, mixed martial arts and more.

How long is each session?

Sessions for high school and college-aged athletes consist of 19 1.5 hour classes (3 per week) over 6 weeks. Junior high-aged athletes attend two, 1.5 hour sessions per week. Athletes should plan to attend all sessions for maximum benefits.

What do I need to bring with me to the sessions?

We recommend free-moving athletic clothing (shorts, t-shirt) and a pair of running, cross-training or basketball shoes that provide good support, as your feet will constantly be experiencing high impact. The most important thing to bring, however, is the right attitude. The POWER program will be challenging and the more you work the more you will get out of the program. Our motto is "The only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary!"-so be ready to work hard!

Do I complete POWER during the regular sports season, in addition to regular practices?

Athletes are not advised to participate in a Power session during the regular season, and we also suggest that, given the intensity of each Power session, athletes allow a two-week recovery period prior to beginning a sports season.

Do you offer sports-specific programs during the sports season?

AMP athletic trainers can work with your coaches to develop a Power session tailored to your sport. Please contact us for more information.
